alt="" />This is spreading and growing rapidly on shaded live rock. It's a light pink with feathery ends.
Is it a sponge? Can I pull it off without the escaping loose particles attaching to rock and spreading more?
Thanks

Edit: In the first pic the really white, long, straight line before the pink is a cleaner shrimp antenna.

I would mess with the sponge. Its very beneficial to the tank. I had a crap ton when I tore down my 40br to upgrade to the 125g. Then when I tore the 125g down there was a lot hidden as well. Very good stuff. It never got in the way of other corals in my tank.

I really can't make anything from your pic, but it sounds like a sponge. They like anywhere the light isn't. Totally harmless, just leave em alone.

I had tons of them in my tank and overflow and after I put in my UV 90% were gone.
They are good filter feeders, but don't look all the great when there all over your display.

I didn't mind when there were just a few but there growing in masses and its not very pretty. I'm adding a UV when I move to my larger DT. Thanks for the good news.

I had some grow over some of my acans :'( they're growing under frags on my fragrack as well. I'm scared they'll overgrow my stuff!

MYREEF says a UV killed his!
They cover the back of some very big live rock. Because im getting ready to move to a larger tank the rocks will be displayed differently and I don't really want them.
My hope is in the UV.
