This pic says it all:

I have three pieces not looking to good in a floating basket right now, they might make it - or may not.

The best thing to happen would be to have two babies on top of the mother.

But, oh boy, I was mighty upset this morning - after saving her from the strainer - she tried another suicide attempt...

And here a pics from happier days, with her first voluntary split:

Yup, they will do that. I had a condi that tried suicide 3 times....on the 3rd it succeeded. 2 times in a PH...the second time it managed to knock off the foam surround....the final time, it melted on a heater. That thing was just out to die. Proper water conditions and time will bring these guys back...they can bounce back after the worst of run ins.

The difference in the way the worst "pieces" looked by the end of the day was amazing... at 9:30 am two of them (which were one sort of at that time) looked like grey piles of goo.
By 7:00 pm when the walls were done, they all looked like they were going to make it. I'm betting all three live.

Mine did the same thing. I was late for work and just unplugged the PH and figured I'd deal with it when I got home. I came back and it was split...half outside the ph and half inside. I got the one on the inside out and they both recovered and are doing well. They didn't look real good at first and I was worried. Maybe you'll have the same outcome.

That's crazy Robb. Keep us up to date on how they do. Great mother so hopefully they'll pull through!

Hopefully the guys will make. They are very nice!

I need to post pics of what I did to anemone proof</em> my tank. Never again will I have to worry about anything going through the vegi-matic, plus, I get the added benefit of surface skimming.

I'll post pics and explain it once I kill the aptasia forest.

This thread is one of the many reasons I am plumbing a closed loop on my new tank tomorrow.

An anemone in a closed loop is not a pretty sight neither.
It is all about how you position you powerheads, respectively the intake for the CL.

I'm going to try to get a pic of my tank soon. Guarantied to be anemone proof....... Now all I need is the anemone, well, other than aiptasia for a change.....
