Is my clam dying?

Don't know if anyone is home from the meeting yet...but I just took a look at my clam and I'm having a similar situation with mine...looks like the little guy is retracting. I'll try and get pix momentarily, but I'd love input once I get them on.

As for the 'hole' you all were mentioning, he had a little hold on his side meat area from when I first got him...I figured it was supposed to be there...no?
 
OK here's a few pictures of the little guy...he seems very receeded, but he was fine 2 days ago and nothing has changed..........help?

This is a picture of the clam a couple weeks ago...he never really opened up a ton, but he was a lot more open than he is now...thoughts?

That pic is of a living clam, the otehrs are of it "gaping". Sorry, its a goner.
