This plate coral is normally happy and puffy. It has been very small since last night. I check ammonia, nitrate and nitrate every few days and all show zero.

Any thoughts, everything else in the tank looks great. We bought this plate a couple of months ago and it has been very happy until last night.

Is that an orange fungia? Its best to have them in the sand... my orange plate was spawning for a few days straight then something pissed it off and he recessed and died... skeleton is still in the sand with all hopes of returning with a bunch of babies but not looking good

Thanks guys, I have been feeding two or three times per week. Once with trace elements and once or twice with mysis, it seems to like the mysis. I moved everything off the sand bed because the Diamond Goby is too messy. I'll find a way to move it back and hope for the best.

As stated, it's best on the sand. If the goby is burying it, that can be problematic, although they are somewhat able to inflate/deflate to clear debris off themselves.

I had a similar problem - our goby kept burrowing under it for a hidey hole, and throwing the sand on top. We ended up cutting a piece of LR flat and narrow, like a shelf, buried that in the sand and placed the plate on top - the goby could not burrow under, since the rock was on the glass. That resolve it for us, but your mileage may vary.

Thanks Jenn. I have it in the sandbed now and have a perfect rock for the job if I need to try that. I'm hoping it comes back, it is one of my favorite pieces.
