Is there a reason to buy high performance carbon for our reefs?

I have used GAC for decades. It never killed fish (that was apparent) and always made the water cleaner/clearer. I now pay about 20x as much and I see no significant difference. Is that scientific, no, but hey it's your money. If you perceive it works and are comfortable paying for it, go for it. I think Black Diamond works just fine, when I use it.

The main differences in GAC are-

-the starting raw material used
-the activation method used, and
-the amount of rinsing done after activation

Where did you get that much carbon for that price?!

And yeah, it's just for your run of the mill DOC removal.

I have used the cheap stuff for a few years with no ill effects. I only gave $ 80 for a fifty pound bag so I disagree with the you always get what you pay for mentality. In the case where quick removal is needed then probably the ROX would be better.

I purchased it from an Industrial water purification dist. in Marietta. I will try to find the info.
