The tank is going to be 24'' X 18'' X 17 (tall), so would 24w X 4 T-5s able to support purple colored acropora?

I personally would want to run more light. If you placed it in the perfect position, it might be OK. Also, reflector, cooling and ballast are important on this.

Yea thats what I was thinking. I came from putting sps directly under 10k 400w MHI, but it's just way too much heat to deal with for me. Maybe going to get the unit with 150W of power with 2 X 24W T-5.

175w if you can swing it. The Iwasaki bulbs throw monster PAR for their size.
