my filter started making bubbles all along side the intake and it looks like its about to overflow when i take the lid off. What the heck is going on? Please help.

When's the last time the filter was changed? Looks like it's clogging and causing the water level to rise in the filter.

the entire filter is less than a month old. this started when i took off the intake cover to clean it. if it sucked something up in it what should i do? break it down and try to clean it out?

I would do a clean and a total restart except for the biowheel. Replace the filter cartridge and you should be fine.

well i just did a complete break down and clean. the filter is filthy.. i dont have a replacement cartridge. im gonna have to wait until tomorrow to get one i guess. gonna have to drive all the way back up above atlanta to get some cartridges. i wish i had known i needed one today when i drove all the way up there :(

Yeah, depending on your feeding, a month is a normal amount of time for a mechanical filter. I got mine to last about 2 months in my FW setup when I would clean them during water changes every 2 weeks.

Your tank will be fine for a day or two with out the cartrage, just get one next time you are there.

i texted Tiffany from Blue Planet and she told me pets mart had them (Thank god) so i rushed over there and got a multi pack. Filter is working normally again. Hopefully the water will be back clear in a couple hours. I really hope taking it apart and cleaning it didnt mess anything up. I used RO water to rinse it all out. Primed it and started it again. Probably couldve used the new water anyways.

for the future, your biowheel is fine as long as it's moving, even if it slows down.

I know you didn't ask about it, but maybe you didn't know, and if you did. saying it twice never hurt anyone haha

The wheel was moving fine but the filter wasn't cleaning the water and the water inside the filter was backing up and about to overflow onto the counter and floor lol

I'm just saying, for future reference. Make sure the wheel is always moving. When it stops moving, the part that is not wet tends to die off.

Oh okay thanks. Everything is better now. The tank is nice and clear. I tested it and everything is within range.

isn't it nice when it's something easy? haha

I hate when you don't know the issue

Yeah. Do you know what the general opinion of those are on here? Do most people think they are pretty good filters? Personally I've been very satisfied with it.
