Hello. Relatively new to Georgia (5yrs) , started a new tank build. Purchased a Nuvo 40 pro about 2 months ago, been cycling for about a month. So far I've used 20 pounds of Caribsea special grade sand, Caribsea life rock tree, 150w Nicrew heater and a Jebao sw 10. Started out with 2 Nicrew 50w leds, but decided to use a 150w Hamilton metal halide with the 14k Phoenix Hexarc bulb. Didn't really care for the fiberglass rod setup for life rock, so I used the Marco rock purple cement to make my own landscape. 20210204_122355.jpg20210214_120831.jpg20210214_122548.jpg

that looks good and good choice in lighting. what are you plans? SPS up top, LPS middle and maybe some zoas/softies at the bottom?

I'm with you on not using fiberglass rods. I used marco cement as well. Holds very strong and has a good history with no issues with anything leaching out.

Reefbrite 18 inch lumibar upgrade. Aquarium stays at 78.1 to 78.3 with halide and led bar running. 11 inches above water line.

Neat. I have the same tank and have been thinking about getting a jebao slw20.
How is the flow using the 10?

Stopped by Nemo's in Dulth yesterday and picked up a Frogspawn and Hammer frag. So far they appear happy. Pulled the trigger and ordered a Maxspect jump led this morning, metal halide keeps popping our fuse panel.

Dang, a 150W halide was tripping your breaker? Usually a breaker is 15A, not including Kitchen ones, that's like 1800W capacity. Do you have a lot of other electronics on that breaker?

Also, your tank is super fresh for corals. I'm not the one to judge because I do the same thing. LOL. I counter the zero nutrients in the tank with some amino acids and it has worked well for me. Just a thought.

Went a new direction with lighting. Upgraded to a Maxspect jump led. Currently only running at 50%.

Tank update. Just finished the ugly brown stage, still have a few green hair algea patches. Still can't decide on lighting, metal halide or Maxspect jump led. Metal halide has less shadows and corals are fatter, led corals have more pop. So far I have a couple zoa frags, candy canes, frogspawn, hammer and a duncan that was almost dead when given to me. Other equipment, just added a Santa Monica drop scrubber and I just ordered a innovative midsize skimmer this morning.
