Have you used one in the past? are you using one now?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What pump would you use?

It will all be housed in the same stand....would a small aqua lifter pump be ok? The make up water doesn't have to travel through more than 2ft?

Love mine and Lord knows I shopped em all....for the money its flawless

I like the small minijets like the 404. I've heard the JBJ can time out before the aqualifter can move enough water in some cases. I use the autotopoff.com which dosn't time out. I have run that little pump dry for days at a time with no problems.

Great item to have. I really needed it to keep my sump level consistent so I could stop screwing around with my skimmer everyday to keep it at the max performance level. Not to mention not having to constantly haul water to the sump. I will not have another tank without one.

Dil, I use one and love it! Couldn't live without it, actually. It cuts down on my daily maintenance and keeps the tank happy and healthy.

I wouldn't use an aqualifter for this. The guy that was going to buy mine before you wanted to use it for the same purpose and I persuaded him not to. Actually, I bought it for that purpose and learned the hard way. If this is why you want to buy an aqualifter, I would strongly advise against it.

I use a MaxiJet 600 in mine. Perfect for a 20L tank that loses about two to three gallons per week. A higher powered MaxiJet would do just fine for a larger tank, and don't cost quite as much as other power heads.

Hope this helps!
