JBJ Temp Probe

I'm missing the temp probe for my JBJ heater controller. I have an old JBJ auto top off setup with the correct plug for the JBJ temp controller and I have a Coralife thermometer. If I cut the temp probe off the coaralife and soldered it to the plug/connector for the JBJ, do you think it would work?
