Hello! I joined the forum about a year ago to get some hitchhiker ID's and whatnot. My tank crashed a few months back and I got really discouraged, but I recently decided to get back on the horse and started a 60g that will hopefully work out a bit better than my 29 did. I figured becoming official was probably the smartest thing to do, especially if I have any more "incidents".

So... hello again!

Honestly I wish I knew. One day my Star polyps just stopped opening, then my xenia (which up until this point had been multiplying quite rapidly and doing very well) drooped and died all at once. Tested my water, nothing was wrong, so I had my water tested at my LFS, and again nothing was wrong. Did a 20% water change just in case, and 2 days later all I had left was a very lonely false percula and a mountain of algae. All my hermits and snails, my serpent star, mushroom corals, watchman goby, everything gone. My zebra hermit made me the saddest of all... got him as a hitchiker on day one, he was barely a centimeter long, and had grown to over an inch. He was the only thing in my tank with a name.

I did find a very large, very dead bristle worm when I cleaned the tank. I don't know if maybe he caused an ammonia spike that I just didn't catch or if he was just another victim.
