So I have finally moved into the world of marine aquariums. After nearly thirty years of freshwater, its about time. Bought LR and LS from Chris @ Fish Scales today ~what a resource he is! As soon as my water clears, I will post a picture of the tank. Wish me luck.

Welcome to the addiction! Can't wait to see some pics. Chris is a great guy.

So here are a few pics. The first pic was Tuesday after I bought the LR and LS. The second was from last night - the water has REALLY cleared up. I will be adjusting my scape - not thrilled with it, so work in progress.

Since the water was so clear, I started running my skimmer yesterday. Getting some bubbles from the return, but will deal with that later. I am looking forward to getting my sump so that I can put my skimmer in the stand. Marine is too cool!

I don't think your aquascape is too bad. Try to think of it with corals on it. I like the rock on the bottom with the hole in it. JMO but i would move them back as far as you can, giving you a larger sand bed up front and preventing corals from growing on the backside.

What kind of lights do you have? Do you plan on having SPS?

BTW, Chris is good people.

My favorite piece of rock is the one with the hole. The scape is as far back as it can go. I am not happy with the top...that is what I will be working on. I have 4 t5's, 24w. 2 actinic and 2 12k's. I am going to start slow with corals and work my way up to the more involved corals.

So the bubbles are all but gone~thank goodness progress is being made. Question for you guys...I put my rock/sand in on Tuesday. Is it too early for coraline algae? This morning, I noticed several small deep purple spots on some of my rock that weren't there yesterday. Seems early to me, but not sure if it is algae.

I was out of town this past week and when I came home, the algae growth was amazing - a lot of color starting to develop. Also, had a bit of hair algae, so I have brought in part of my cleaning crew.

A colleague helped me out with my first corals - three red mushrooms, one blue mushroom, one green mushroom and two nice pieces of torch coral - Can not wait for these guys to take off!

I also picked up a mated pair of clowns from Chris @ Fish Scales - I am trying to take this slowly and work my way into it, but am having a blast!
