Ok I just bought a used skimmer Pacifichttp://www.fishtanksdirect.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=567">http://www.fishtanksdirect.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=567</a>

This will be running my 75 display with 20L sump or 29 sump (haven't made my mind up) and the 75 will have mainly sps lps and clams...You think this would be capable of pristein water conditions (nitrate, nitrite, phos)?

What size mag drive would i need...I have a 9.5 thinking about splittling it for the supply for display and for skimmer is that enough?

You want 1 to 1.5 times the water volume you're skimming to run through the skimmer

I don't think this skimmer is going to cut it. If it claims to be rated for 185g, then it's probably only capable of 100g max. I'm sure it'll skim, but will it keep your water pristine?? Na, doubt it.

Greg-softies like dirty water

I agree with Raj.

Now I have never used this skimmer so who knows.

I know this one is the same price and pulls a lot more air.

It however is not a recirculating skimmer.

I have a very large skimmer a Euro reef rs 180 on a 75gal and 25 sump. It pulls 1,000lph or 36 scfh . You said pristine so I would go larger the one you pick may work but I don not think you are over skimming.

Well now i have a skimmer for sale the skimmer is 26.75 inches and just so happens that my stand only allows for 25.5 inches but that is not being able to remove the top at that close so i need to sell this one or trade for an equal skimmer just shorter...Preferably a recirc but maybe a mesh modded needle wheel

Softies do amazingly well in dirty tanks because they love all of the nutrients floating around. The skimmer essentially takes out the "dirtyness" thus why Xenia often dies in people's tanks because there are no nutrients.

I am asking 300 obo for the skimmer or one of equal value but will fit with cup removal space under 25.25 inches

I will have a tang or two and some wrasse's along with a couple of other small fish anthies etc....it is going to be my living room display

Remember that Live Rock poops just like fish do.

AND we're talking pristine, not okay water quality. A good skimmer isn't something worth skimping on. I've tried that and paid dearly for it.

Ok does anyone know somebody that could take two inches out of the body...some one good with acrylic?
