My fish and coral were moved from my nano to my new 65 gallon about 30 days ago and already my nitrates were high 15ppm. I just did an 8 gallong water change yesterday and now it is at 10pp,. I don't understand why my nitrates are this high. I only have 3 fish (clown, chromis, goby), lots of snails, and lots of very small hermits, and a few other invertebrates that came with clean-up crew.

I bought one of those floating devices that contain the food when you feed them to prevent food waste and my fish are eating every bite of pellet food within 45 seconds at most. I just don't get it, why am I have such high nitrates.

My duncans and trumpets are looking pretty bad, but my zoas, feather duster, mushrooms, frogspawn are all looking great.

pH = 8.2, amonia = 0, nitrite = 0, nitrate = 10ppm, salinity 1.025, temperature 79.3

Something is missing and that's the link that is causing your issue. My recommendation would be to create a refugium with cheato in it. This will help remove some nitrates as cheato uses it for food. The other alternative is to add a clam. They are known to be a natural nitrate remover. The final option is to use chemical or mechanical removal (dosing chemicals or using pellatized products such as Katalysts) through a reactor or in the sump.
