Hey Guys and Gals,

I've been in the aquarium(mostly freshwater) hobby most of my life. Just started getting into a reef tank. I'm excited for this weekend and can't wait for my first reef expo. I've been stalking the forums for a little while and you guys/gals seem great. Looking forward to meeting some of y'all and making my tank look like some of y'alls beautiful tanks!

I set up my first SW tank 3 weeks ago with some live rock I got from a buddy and some Carribsea live sand. I ran stability for a week with some pure ammonia. As of two days ago before a WC my ammonia and nitrite was showing 0ppm and nitrate at 0-10ppm. I am picking up my reef master test kit tomorrow. I'm not really expecting to buy corals this weekend until I take multiple measurement and know I'm ok. I picked up a fire shrimp, two tiny hermit crabs and a nassarius snail yesterday. They seem to be doing great so far.

She's a Chocolate Doberman. She was a rescue from a friend of a "friend". He lived in an apartment by himself working 12+ hr days and she was left in a crate. When I got her she was less than 40lbs at 8 months and had been taken off puppy food for three months because "she was already big enough." Now she's a healthy 85 lbs beast with a backyard

I would hold off on coral for a couple months, tests may show water quality results, but coral requires bacteria and stability that an immature tank won't have. The time that you put in waiting for the tank to mature will give you time to get familiar with testing multiple parameters and acquiring products to adjust those parameters. Calcium, alkalinty, magnesium, phosohate, and Nitrate are what you want to focus on.

I understand, I know even though my 15 lbs of live rock that has been in a very well maintained reef tank for ten years my 10g system will take a little while to catch up with everything. My buddy says I should be good to go but I don't want to risk any coral

Too many to list! I'm really excited but have heard to start with some zooanthids, elegance corals and maybe a duncan.
