Just saw this.... The tank was finally settling in with about 20 acros coloring up and slowly growing. Key words there "was", about 3 weeks ago I had a heater stick on and absolutely cooked my tank. Temp was at 93 when I found it(no Apex to alert me). It also took out a couple of gonipora. The tank itself is still running great after the heater was replaced. So now to fine some new frags to load the system back and get growing again.

I like them. The only reason I didn't go with the 6' was because of the location of the tank in the house. I really like the 30" front to back. Gives the tank a better depth feel with the rock work.

That’s my exact reasoning as to why I want the 5’ option myself.

Update time. Don't mind the aptasia, I have some recently added friends that should take care of that issue. What was left after the stuck on heater is doing well.

Have you considered getting your flow to sway back and forth (left to right) since you have euro brace? That would be my dream flow. And some random flows once a while or so.

That is how the gyres are currently flowing. I'd actually like to add more random flow as well

I had to look at your picture again. It’s super cool. I think you need more than two gyre to do that in a 170. I mean one motion of flow left to right.

Oh I gotcha, they do a decent job as the tank is only 5ft long.

You have 170Gallon tank which is lot more work… and once you get more corals growing, you probably want more powerheads~.
