k-2 Viper Question

Alright, so after being stumped two days in a row by my 150 watt k-2 viper I come for your advice. This could be noimated for dumbest question of the year......

I bought the fixture from Barry about a month ago and am just now getting around to putting in a Phoenix 14k bulb. I removed the 4 screws holding the glass and cannot figure out how to remove the glass to get to the bulb. I have tried sliding it, prying the outer lip off that surrounds the glass, and every other gentle option. I didn't do anything too forceful just because I didn't want to break the glass.

So here comes the dumbest question asked this year....How exactly do you remove the glass on a viper 150 watt fixture? :doh:

I've never used the viper but when I had my 48" fixture. I'd have to remove all the screws on one aide of the fixture to remove that side panel. Thats when I was able to slide all the glass and metal panels covers from the fixtures. Take a look at your fixture is see if your able to do the same. Let me google that fixture and I'll get back with you

Thanks for the link. It appears that over time the outer ring must have just gotten "stuck". I figured it was supposed to come off but after a lot of prying with a small screwdriver all around the edges it didn't budge at all. After work today I will give it a try. Hopefully 3rd time is the charm

Don't force it too hard or else you'll crack something. Going back to my old 48" fixture. I got it used and it had a lot of salt creep on the covers where my T5's where. One solid piece of acrylic cover 48" long. It took me 5 hours to remove it due to it being stuck. What I did was take some really hot water and dripped it into the cracks of the covers and just waited for a minute for loosen it up a little. That seemed to really help. Try doing that first before you go prying at it. Good luck.

Thanks for the advise Hoang. I will give the hot water in the cracks method a try tonight.
