KH question about Hanna checker

Hanna checker shows 164 ppm on tank water. When I’m checking my water change water it shows 68ppm. Checked them twice. Is this normal for instant ocean. This is a new box. Never seen this before it usually tests at about 140ppm in the new water

Did you mix up the salt? I always took my box salts, dumped it into a bucket and rolled it around a bit to mix it up to get more even parameter.

Check the calcium and magnesium, if they're not crazy high you can raise the alk to match the system. If one of them is through the roof I'd scrap the batch.

IO should be 140—160ppm.
