OK guys,

I need some pointers on some reflectors so I can research them. I am trying to get as much research done before dropping the dough on this project. I want to see which pendant will be best over a 36x36x27deep SPS/LPS tank and only want one 400 watt MH 20k Radium bulb. I'll prob run a few t5 actinic to supplement if needed. I'm not too concerned with canopy size just as long as I can avoid a chiller!!!! Anyone have some advice to give on these?

BTW... I have really been impressed with the folks on this board. I plan on using you're guys experience to learn and grow in the hobby and hopefully will be on the advice giving end in a few years.

Thanks again, I'm glad I found this site

I got excited the other day I had read something about that but that it was over 36". If its under that then it would be perfect!!! If someone knows a link they can post please do. Thx

I have done a bit of research on the LumenBright and LumenMax reflectors with Coralvue ballasts and the Radium 20K lamps in my build thread. One of the last couple pages....

Thanks Oz. I actually came across something I believe u posted on RC. Could be miskaken though. I would like to do a single MH over this tank I'm planning. I have had some say that 250 will do it, but I have a 250 over my 60 gal corner and I feel like I might need a little more than that a 250. I will read your thread. Thx!!

There is 2 sizes to the new sunlight supply reflector. The Magnum XXXL 6" A/C is 32.5" and the 8" AC is 38".

Thanks,
Tim

Thanks Tim. Do you happen to have all the diminsions to xxxl (32.5)? Any idea what these are gonna cost?

I actually looked on their website and got the dimensions. 2 questions....it says horticulture, will it work for a reef? Any idea what the 6" cooling is? I might give sunlight supply and try to talk to a rep tomorrow

Honestly a single normal size lumin arc will work just fine if mounted about 14-18" over the tank.

granted a larger size reflector will minimize light loss...but i usually wait to see actual numbers and pricing before getting new reflectors.

actually, talk to grouper therapy. He can make you a luminarc style reflector whatever size you want!

I'm using the LumenMax 4 for my 30x30x24 and have really good spread... The LumenMax 4 is actually a hydroponic reflector but works great for these types of applications... I was going to supplement the edges with T5s but I really don't see the need, because I never put anything within 6" of the glass (except for the back) and if needed you could add T5 there... Just a thought...

How do you like the 93 cube?? I'm considering that as well. I like its depth better than I like the 150 (27" deep). I would love to see about pricing a custom 40x40x24 but I'm sure it would be way more than I want to spend!

If it helps I am using 2 large Lumenbrites over a 60x24x25 with 250's.

32.5" X 26.25" X 7.75"

They are $200 each. A reflector for MH can be used either for Horticulture or Aquariums. Also, the 6" means it has 6" vents so you can air cool the bulbs via a fan and you could also vent the heat aqay as well.

Thanks,
Tim

I think I'll go with the smaller reflector now that someone brought up fact that I 'll take up all the room in my canopy.

**** $200 for a reflector?! Yeah talk to dave.

Yes absolutly go with a 400w, I would highly recommend going with a magnetic balast(perferably the PFO HQI) more watts, more light. Hell with the HQI you get over 500w of light with only one bulb to replace!

And Yes do some t5ho's or vho's around the sides, this will help fine tune the color but more importantly will help light the caves and under hangs in the tank.

on and BTW, I had dave make the reflector for my last tank and made it about the same size as the tank footprint and mounted the T5's inside the reflector with the halide. Worked GREAT!
