Well I bought a few cool looking Halloween hermit crabs last week. They were pretty big and cool looking so I thought I would get a few and add in my reef tank. I noticed after a couple days my alvepora was looking smaller and I thought hum not really noticing anything close to it. The next night I happen to check on tank and there's 2 Halloween hermits eating away. They have finished off about half the size of a softball. Needless to say I pulled them out and they are in my sump now and they are going over to a new home tomorrow

What?!? No way! I thought they were reef safe, i have been wanting them soo bad. Wow, that sucks.

No crab is 100% reef safe......always a bad apple in the bunch somewhere.

That sucks , I bought one last week as well , I thought it would go well with my scarlets , now I'm wondering if he is snacking. The only thing i noticed missing this week was a green fuzzy mushroom on a piece of rubble but I was hoping it would show back up (i have a few landscapers)
They are very cool looking critters awfully slow moving , I'll be on watch now.

Emeralds have been pretty reef safe in my experience with them... if they have ever eaten any corals, I've never noticed/ seen them do it.

:eek:Wow,Im going to try putting 2 in my 180.Ah.....I think:unsure:

Had a true peppermint shrimp eat a Duncan coral. I would run him off and he would jump right back on it! None of my other peppermints have touched anything in my other two tanks!
