would this be enough to keep sps?

I don't think 6 LEDs are going to give you enough for proper coverage over the surface of a standard 10g tank. I think you'd have significant spotlighting, Two units would be better, and three units would ROCK a 10g!......... IMO

Looks like it would be great for my LPS and Softies dominant 6g.

I'd consider it, but;

Not certain what a heatsink is....

Not great with electrical wiring stuff...

Having been struck by lightning, just a bit skidish....

I'm thinking DIY lighting isn't for me.......

Does anyone else have any options on if 12 leds would be enough to keep all sps

If its a 10g tank then I don't see why (12) 3w LEDs can't keep sps happy. You can mak two rolls of 6 LEDs each spaced out evenly. Use the 60 degrees optic on them and that should be plenty of light.

A heatsink is usu. just a piece of aluminum that dissipates heat from the led.

I bought a kit for my biocube and if you know how to solder it is a piece of cake.

A 12 led fixture would be perfect. You might wanna consider 2 par bulbs if you're not comfortable building a fixture.

I'm going to be putting 22 LED's in my Biocube 8 gallon , I know i'm crazy but I have them so why not lol
