who, if anyone, keeps leapord wrasses?

I know they r difficult to get started on food, and can be tough to ship... but does anyone have success with them?

I suggest you read through this thread thoroughly:

You can check my build for a bit of info:

very basic:

no QT, straight in tank, 3 treatments of prazi.

fine sand
all friendly tankmates
healthy pod population
live brine ready to roll (gut packed with Selcon)
PE mysis ready to roll

Yes-I have two-they were very small when I got them-so I fed them 5-6 times a day. They are in a 75g with 125lbs of rock and the tank was full of pods(tank was two years old). Only one in the picture, the other one is too fast for me!

I've heard this strategy before.. no qt n such..

thanks for the links

I think the trick is have lots of pods for them to munch on initially until you train them to eat frozen food.

some people just have some luck, and healthy specimens!

(and had all the right conditions)

rates of survival are something like 10% to 25% first year.

Choati are at about 5% at $200.00 to $299.00 a pop.

Read that info in above link.

The "easiest" are (IMHO)
MM
bipart
black
ornate

the potters can be harder than those.

I'm a dope, nevermind, lol! I was at work thinking of the red tailed Tamarin...red coris? What does that have anything to do here? Lol

How long have you had them?

I've had them 5 months, they are beautiful fish. They each have their own personality. One gets up with the lights and goes to bed early, the other gets up 1-2 hours after the lights and goes to bed with the actinic lights.

Sounds like my fish. They all have a slightly different schedule. Certain wrasses and anthias are the only extra fish I will be adding in my upgrade. Great thread

Seems one of the major things with the Potters is the diet.. Mostly pods and those little red spike balls on the rock (can't remember the name and don't feel like digging it up right now)

Those are on the stocklist.. Just have to get to that point..

not totally true............

They stress out so easily, and you have no control. When you place them in your tank, they dive into sand................maybe they come out, matbe they don't.....when, if they do? They are on a different time frame...........They might come out at 3am, in you're case that's perfect....lol........anyway, they come out for an hour to feed, no food? back in the sand. So, day 5 in the sand, what do you do?

They have worms..........so....you finally get them to come out, and they will only eat live brine, but hey, they are eating..............you must treat your tank 3x's with prazi.

I know this guy on RC, he has bought like 8 choti's at 250 a pop, he has none living right now.

don't buy these.....please, unless you have some leopards already in a leopard only tank.

Kevin sent me a MM Leopard from DD in like 25 gallons of water, lol. He was gorgeous! He came out day 1, and ate great for like 4 days......225........toast. in my build.
