I am looking for a 6-8 lamp T5 HO setup for a 180G tank. (72") Does anyone have any recommendations? I don't know which ones are good and which are not.

Thanks,
Brian.

For what you'll spend with that fixture, replacing bulbs and the higher electric bill, you'd be just as well of going with 3 LED fixtures for $600. No heat, no bulbs to replace and a lower electric bill not to mention, you're corals will love it!

Just curious what led lights you recommend at 600 for 3 lights?
My lps has AI less for 400 per light?
Thanks I'm looking to switch from T5 also

I would like to go with LED if I could find something for $600. Do you have any specific recommendations? I've tried looking at marinedepot.com and drsfostersmith.com and couldn't find anything I was sure was bright enough. Too many LED fixtures are just accent lighting.

The black box LED that a large portion of Members have sell for around $200 each. So 3 on a six foot tank would be plenty.

I just got rid of my 6' T5 12 bulb fixture and went with the 3 LED set up that was referenced above. I am glad I made the switch. You will spend near $600 for a decent T5 fixture and with LED you dont have to spend a couple hundred more in 12 months replacing bulbs. Go LED. PM me if you want the contact on where to get them.

Just let me know if you want to see them on my 6' tank.

I was quoted $600 (- ARC discount but that about covers tax) for the 6 lamp Aquatic Life T5 from my LFS. They wanted $1500 for LED though and that's out of my budget. If I can get LED for $600 then I will. I have a canopy so a retro kit will work fine.

I am also in the market to upgrade my lights and I am interested in these black box lights. Can anyone shoot me a link?

Edit:

Do you mind if I stop by some time? I am interested in seeing your lighting setup.
