Hey guys, still no power here. Since i have a lot of time on my hands I've been able to reconfigure my extension cords and slowly add more and more stuff to the generator. However, I don't want to run it at full capacity so I'm pinching watts here and there. Here's my question - What uses more power, a single AI Prime or 2 39W (36") T5 bulbs. I'm guessing the T5's will use more power but I thought I'd ask.

I'm well aware that I could look it up online but I also wanted to check in and say Hello!

what part of stone mountain are you in? we had a 6 hour outage the day the storm hit then it was back on then yesterday another outage for 5 hours and back on again

I live right off Hambrick Rd in the Cedar Park neighborhood. Most of my neighbors have power but there's a power pole down up the street and it only effects a small portion of us. I'd be surprised if it came on much before Monday.

The LED uses less power.

Head to head, it’s 55watts for the LED vs 78 watts for the T5’s, but there’s more to consider-

The T5’s ballast also draws power of its own, which is in addition to the 39 watt bulb rating. So the actual current draw at the wall is higher than what the bulb ratings would indicate.

One more thing to consider. LED’s have a higher conversion efficiency than fluorescent tube technology. So, you get more units of light, think more PAR here, per watt by using LED’s.
