Looking into getting better lights. Really interested in LED but i cant see myself spend $400+ on one light much less two. Been looking at some ebay chinese leds. Found some 165 dimmable one for a decent price. Ill post the link below. Does anyone have any experience with these? Is there a difference in these and the expensive ones other than the brand name? Thanks or all your help.

I have the first lights you posted with the 90 degree lenses and different colored LED's. I bought them on ebay and paid $253 shipped. They are nice lights, seem to be good quality, I have only had mine for about 3 weeks now. My LFS uses them over a few of their reef tanks along with a few employees there and they all said nothing but good things about these lights. I think they are a great deal considering you can put whatever type of coral, clam, whatever you want under them.

Oh BTW, they are really 120watts, not 165...even though some places advertise them as 165w.

Yes, that is what I have over my 90. My lights are built into my canopy and are about 13" off the water surface.

ok i have a canopy on y tank but ill have to figure out a way to get them 13 off if anything ill just remove the canopy

Edit: just noticed that these in the fist link have a 60 degree lense. is this a problem should i contact the seller and inquire about 90 degree lenses? i'm new to the led concept so im not even sure what different degree lenses do.

I have a canopy that I built (I build all my own stands canopies, sumps etc), I cut two holes on top of my canopy slightly smaller than the diameter of the lights, beveled the inside edges at a 45 degree angle and the lights sit snug right in the cut out.

I would do at least 90 degree lenses, 60 will be too concentrated. 90 or even 120 degree lenses will give you a better spread.

Hey,

I have two 120 value Reefbreeders over my 90g tank. I love them. I have everything in my tank from LPS to SPS. They are $179 shipped and come with a 1 year warranty. Give them a look.

Any pics as well?

The price on the website includes shipping. They are rebranded China models, but the warrenty is based out of the USA. I have heard some of the ones on ebay LED breaking within months and you are then SOL because you have to ship back to China. I not saying the ones on Ebay are bad, just giving you some insight to the ones that I love.
