Trying to decide what tyoe of lights I want to go with. It will be a mixed reef. If it were yours what would you use. And what brand

If I would you I would make a DIY form Rapidled or get the onyx form Rapideled. Thy have Greta lights and Greta customer service. Also a great warranty on the onyx led light.

Well. I did the non-solder less a while ago over my 20gallon and It worked good. I had 3 clams under the lights that did well until I had my tank crash.

T-5 HO, I was using a 24" 6 bulb ATI Sun Power fixture over mine and it was great.

Yes and the tank was an AIO so really the display was only 28" across. Even if the display was 36" I would still only have used this fixture, more than enough light. I am not a fan of scraping algae off the side glass any more than is necessary. I keep my corals and rock about 3"- 4" aware from the glass so there is no reason to have light right up tot the glass.

I have a 4 bulb t5 i used on my old 40breeder, mostly softies and some lps

$150, 250W MH + 2x T5 + Moon LEDs. At 30" wide it would be a pretty good fit for a 40G breeder.

Edit: Sorry, it has 4x T5's.

Yes but its Aquatraders/Odessa...not good quality. Unit is 30" but t5 bulbs are 24".

I had one of the units that caught fire several years ago, google the subject there was much written about it. I have also not been impressed with any of their bulbs. I have not heard too much that they turned things around.

Lol I habe had the fixture for a few monts with jo issues. A buddy has had his for a few years and we bothe get great growth

My sister had one and loved it, I bought one and it caught fire...go figure. Doing some research after the fact I found I was not alone. Didn't mean to bash but I did have some history and a bad taste left over. Since that time I learned that you usually get what you pay for with lighting.

I yhink if you look hatd enough you can find a bad apple in every light type and brand. And yes I read about the lights that caught fire. I think im leaning torwards t5 or leds

my 36" t5 fixture is from there, worked great while I had it in use, except the moonlights stopped working pretty quickly

yeah, i just didn't care to replace them. I don't use the fixture anymore anyways
