Lighting and moon

This may be a weird question but does the moon have any influence of reef tanks? Any benefit to simulating the light cycles of the moon? I've heard that it may increase spawning but are there any other real positives?

What I state is not law by no means. What i've heard is yes, it does have an affect along with cloud cover etc. Natural simulation is supposed to be the best thing for it. I'm sure a fair amount of individuals may disagree. I'd love to hear more on this subject though.
