I purchased a Deep Blue 48" SolarXtreme from my LFS that has (2) 54 watt t-5 10,000k & (2) Actinic bulbs and 8 Moonlights. You can set the times for each set of bulbs and the Moonlights can be turned on/off. Would anyone have any suggestions on a time setup configuration for each of the phases?

Below is a pic of my tank as of right now! As you can see, there ain't even any water yet! Grouper Therapy is working on my built-in which you can view the renderings in my aquarium build thread. In the meantime I trying to learn as much as I can about my equipment so I'm ready when the water hits the tank! :wow2:

I like to try and do a sun raise and sun set motion. With my tank, the moon lights stay on 25/7. Actinic come on at around 11 am and them daylight comes on at 3pm. Daylights off at 11pm then followed by the actinic at midnight. It has always worked out well for me with the same light cycle for all my tanks.

Wow.. the sun sets kind of late in your area of GA :) I posted in the QA area a question about lighting. (I have the same solar lights as the poster)
I had a setup of act on a 9am, 10k on at 11am, 10k off at 3pm and act off at 9pm.. moons on 24/7. I thought all was ok, but I started to notice white spots on the LR. (Tank is about 4 months old) Is this too much lighting burning the LR or not enough? Its a 55gal tank..btw

I come home late so I set the daylights to go off later for me to at least enjoy looking at my tank for an hour or two at night.
If I read this right, you only have 4 hours of daylight. IMO, that is way too little. I run minds for 8 hours a day. Some run a little less and some a little more. But not 4 hours. That's just too little.
