I can not remeber if we have had a lively discussion in regards to the below linked article. I know that the first time i read it it kinda left my scratching my head but then again i am not the brightest light bulb on the string at times.
IMHO it is a very intresting read and does reveal alot of information in regards to how LED's and other types of lighting can be used and gives good explenations of Lumens, PAR and PUR in relation to how we use the lights. It also gives a good example of how color tempratures are used and what the best Kelvin range for growth is.
I hope that this will provide some useful information as to the mysteries of Reef lighting for the New guys, and maybe strike up some good conversations and possibly experiments in regards to some of the alternative lighting solutions that are out there
