I am starting to plan a new reef tank. I want to go with a 75 gallon display (maybe a custom tank, I would like an external over flow). My first question is about lighting. I have used VHO T5s before and I think that is what I will end up with again. I just wanted to get some info on LEDs. Most of the units I have looked at seem to be priced out of my range. I have looked over some of the LED DIY threads on here but still seems to be pretty pricy. I know the long term price should be cheaper then T5s but does any know if it really is? I also dont know what kind of set up I would need LED or T5s. I want the tank to be 48Lx18WX20H, I would think 6 T5s would be plenty, I want to keep softies and LPS maybe some acro or other hard corals near the top but the tank will be mostly soft coral. Any Idea of what kind of LED set up I would need?

Thank you for any input.

The LED switch was one of the best things I have ever done in this hobby. You will not be disappointed.
