Lighting for mantis shrimp tank

Really excited about setting up a tank for a mantis!! Needed some input though on lighting. I know they do not require anything like corals or inverts do & that too much exposer can lead to shell rot. I've done some reading & have found that some really emphasize absolutely no light at all. Others say that as long as the lights are not kept on too long & there is enough room, LR & sand for them to make their burrow, the type of light doesn't really matter. Thanks!!
 
Heath has like an 18 watt daylight freshwater light on his and his mantis does not suffer from shell rot
