Since there is so many of you who provide good, dependable advice, I thought Id make this post.

Im currently building a 40B which will be a peninsula. I have drawn out plans for a hood, so im not too worried about aesthetics, as the fixtures will be hidden.... I plan on using a 150W MH and two 36" T5's. I plan on eventually housing SPS, so should I get a few more T5's, or am I good?

depends on what coral you're going to have if you're leaning more towards sps id go at least a 250w or maybe even 400w a halide but for lps and softies the 150w should be just fine. also dont forget to vent the canopy. you can really heat up a tank with halides over it.

Thanks for the input... Im going to take it slow on this tank, but eventually, yes, I want a lot of SPS. I might buy another T5's fixture and call it good until then. As far as the canopy goes, it'll be open on the top with fans.

I'd go with 250 watts and two true actnics t5 or even blue Led instead of t5. I would consider a chiller.

I'd like to use the 150W... maybe two and the T5's. I am definitely considering a chiller.
