lighting help

I have an opportunity to get a 4x39w nova extreme light fixture from jeff. I currently have a 4x39w fixture, will both, in total 8x39w fixture be to much for a 40-gallon breeder?

i want to be sure i wont kill my tank before i get it.

If you run them 24/7 YES, if you run them an hour a day, def NOT - plus you can run them staggered

well rob, who runs their light 24/7? surely not me since the tank is in my room lol

First fixture 12-10, second only 4-10...
What I meant was that the lighting period is important too.
A 1000W MH on a nano on for only 20secs a day won't do much...

so like a dusk/dawn effect? how exactly? i want good growth from my corals but my sps, even after a year of having it, hasnt shown much growth at all.

have a few zoas, kenya tree, traveling gorgonia, acans, some shrooms, frogspawn, and other things

i have timers lol no worries there. actually have 3, 2 for my lights (have double outlets) and one for my fuge.

my lighting schedule now is:

9:30 - 10:45 :: 2 actinics
10:45 - 9:30 :: 2 day bulbs

fuge is on a reverse lighting schedule.

how would i incorporate the new 4 bulb in to that schedule safely?

40b tanks aren't that deep, and I don't think you'll experience too much more growth with double the bulbs. Now you could set a 2nd tank up right below that one and have 2 tanks, that might be worth it.

its a wooden stand lol not gonna do me much good. lol tho having them next to each other.... plumbed together.... hmmm lol idk it was a thot. mite just get a 2 bulb fixture then and figure out why i am not getting good growth

I know I didn't have great growth til I added a kalk reactor to my top off, my monti caps exploded with growth I could measure every other day or so.
