Lighting question

Hi,
I am new to the club, but not to the hobby. I have a 125 with fish and inverts only. The tank was set up with 2 sets of T8 bulbs that need to be changed. Any advice on bulbs?

Edit: I have a lot of sediment on the crushed coral substrate. I hear that a protein skimmer will help this. However, my wet/dry system has no room. There is the big pump, small pump for 2 inline uv's. Any advice?

Get a HOB protein skimmer like a seaclone. They work really well IMO. And I do believe they make a skimmer capable of handling your bioload.

Reef octopus HOB skimmers will handle your tank. You can even hang it on then side of your sump if you had room under your stand.

Yup... octopus skimmer is very good for the money.

A skimmer won't do anything for the stuff that is settled on the bottom unless you increase flow and get it suspended in the water column... then it can be skimmed out.

IMO (no offense to Insane Reef Keeper) Seaclones are the most useless skimmers on the market (and yes, I've owned one). Octopus, Tunze, Deltec make some decent HOB's, and there are a lot of people that swear by the AquaC Remora.

To each his own and no offense taken. I have used seaclones and found them to be ok skimmers, however they do need to be adjusted constantly.
