I currently have a 29 gallon fowlr tank but want to upgrade my lighting. Right now I just have the lot that came with my tank when it was given to us. I may eventually put in some corals, so I want decent lighting. I just don't want to break the bank to badly. Suggestions??

I would suggest LEDs on a 29 gal to avoid heat issues. If this is a biocube I have seen where the hood can be modified for LEDs. Check out the reef breeders LEDs. T5s would work also.

it isnt a nanocube. hubby would have to do the diy led and it would be easier just to buy them.

Lighting is really</em> pricey. For that reason, I wouldn't make any decision on lighting until you decide what you want in the tank. There's a good chance you end up buying something that isn't a good fit, and you cost yourself a lot of money.

Figure out what you want to keep, and then decide what light to get. (Unless you can talk whoever just got a steal on those eShine units to sell you one of them.)

The reef breeder budget LEDs mentioned earlier would work good, you'd have to find a way to mount it,they cost about $180.You can find a plain blue/ white version of that same light on eBay for about $150.If you want t5's pm robbywood he's got some 24" t5s for sale.
