I added a t-5 fixture to our 34 solana so here is what we have now.

Let me know your thoughts, I was surprised last night that when the actinics were on by themselves, all the fish stayed active instead of going to their sleeping holes like they used to.

250 watt sunpod with 14k phoenix
(2) 18watt 460 nanometer actinic blues

Schedule

12:00pm actinics come on
1:00pm metal halide on
2:00pm actinics off
9:00pm actinics on
10:00pm metal halide off
11:00pm actinics off
11:00pm lunar leds on

Looks like a nice schedule. As far as the halide photoperiod, you have 9 hours. IME, corals don't really need more than 7-8 hours a day for their biological requirements for growth and color (I run mine 7-8 hours), but a 9 hour photoperiod shouldn't harm them, just use a little extra electricity.

I run 9 so we can enjoy the tank later in the evening. By the time the lights come on the sun is already brightening that room, so might as well have the light on. Plus I don't have temp issues or for that matter any algae issues at all.

The only time I get algae is after feeding DT's and its just a little film on the glass.
