I have a 110 gallon tank. The lighting that we bought with the set up was 2-48 " fluorescent lights and 2 metal halides. I now understand that.the lights don't put out enough light for depth of tank and also outdated. I am looking at purchasing a T5 HO w/ leds. My question is with the T5 light do I need the metal halides?

I also read somewhere on arc you need 4 to 8 watts per gallon of tank. The biggest 48" wattage I can find is 6x54 watts=324 watts. So with that being understood would I need two light to get the wattage needed?

Thanks in advance Brad

To start fish with a few soft corals as our confidence rises so will what other corals a going to be placed. We are going to just take it slow and steady. We have couple damsels and a Kenya tree frag. That doesn't open alot until the metal halides are turned on due to not having the proper lighting.

I ended up with a 6 bulb t5 that with timer that was cheaper that the LEDs were going to be. For now I'm going to give them a try, going from vho/mh to to t5 I already is a big improvement in the system. If I don't like the t5 I may still go with the LEDs at some point.

Thanks for advice

These lights would do the trick for you if you are interested in going LED. Gary is a great guy.
