Hi all,

I currently have a 20" Sps dominated cube.

I was planning on migrating to the metal halide lights from LEDs.
Can you suggest what wattage should be enough for the MH?

I am fairly confused between the 250 w and 150w 14000k lights. I am of the opinion that 250 might be a little too much light.

I plan on resting the light fixture right on top of the aquarium, so it will be about 2.5 inches from the water surface.

That is way to close IMO. The heat will be oof the charts probably. 250 watt will not be too much but you will need to hang the light much higher. I would start at around 16" depending on the reflector.

I have a 250w ballast, bulb, and lumen brite reflector listed for sale at a cheap price if you need one.
