Interesting thread. Sounds like there is an A8 for ~$400 that uses actual CREE LEDs and a Meanwell driver whereas this cheaper A8se uses generic Chinese LEDs and a generic driver. The A8 has a very similar spectrum and output to the real thing. Didn't see any test results for the A8se. Also these things use a Chinese app. If it were me I'd probably still go with noopsyche at this price point: https://noopsychereeflight.com/products/k7-pro-iii-full-set-aquarium-led-coral-light

For $187 might be worth trying.. if their at least as good as the old black boxes they will definitely grow corals...

Agreed, don't waste time with knock offs. Noopsyche lights are really great for the price, don't have the app controlled models but I like mine. Grows coral and that's about all you can ask for haha.
