I'm looking for info on Liopropoma sp., more specifically Liopropoma rubre (Swissguard Basslet). i haven't read many first hand experience with them. how are they in terms of aggression with fish and inverts. i've heard they're kind of shy at first. also looking to see about feeding habits, frozen vs dry. most importantly, any vendors have them :D

I have a Liopropoma rubre and a Liopropoma carmabi in stock. Both have been fully QTed and conditioned and are eating frozen and dry food.

They are very peaceful and are little risk to inverts, save perhaps small shrimp such as sexy shrimp.

Thanks, I'll have to make my way over there. mind PMing me a price? Thanks

I have one and he hardly ever emerges from the rock work. Nice fish, but for me, I would have bought a different fish that is more visible if I had it to do over again. Nothing against the Swissguard, he is just being himself. Been an ideal reef inhabitant, IME.

I'm guessing because of their elusiveness, you can't comment on aggression? What about feeding?

When I see the swalesi, he has a FAT belly. I'm guessing he eats the mysis tht floats into the rockwork.

Mine was in a 100 gallon. Tossed him in my 465 a while ago and haven't seen him since. He's probably alive and as stealthy as ever. I have not seen any aggression from mine. He darts out to get food. Just saying the cost vs viewing ratio with this fish is not good.

We have our carmabi in a 70 gallon, and he is regularly out and visible. It just takes acclimation.
