Ok everyone, getting ready to place my final large equipment order this weekend. Im going to run the spectrapure ultra ato, so I was thinking about also running the litermeter 3 for awc. Which do you guys like between that and the dos. The tanks are in the garage 50 feet away same floor, so not much head pressure.

As someone who has zero direct experience with either system, allow me to issue forth my opinion. As long as the dos has good reviews and folks don't have too many problems with it, stick with the stuff designed to work with the Apex system. That way once you learn the Apex system, you'll have all the detailed information and control on a single platform. The only question I would have we be about durability or the hardware. I know the Liter Meter is built to handle a lot of use and the initial things I'm reading about using the dos system for awc are all encouraging. I just think that if you're going to have an Apex system, getting components designed to work with it would be the way to go.
Thank you justin for your response, thaat does make sense with the apex. Because even if I went with the spectrapure I planned to use optical sensors and a power bar anyway. I know a little more complicated! The biggest reason I was converting the spectrapure was because of the type of pump perstaltic which I heard was very good which is actually the same as the dos but ive heard of the constant water changes being hard on the heads. I'll keep researching, I want the spectrapure but not the price!!!
I'm pretty sure that @anit77 uses the dos unit for water changes. Let's assume that both options work really well and after a good long while, they stop working for no explainable reason. In that case, I've seen a lot more dos pumps up for sale used than I ever have Liter Meter's. The dos are just really, really common and getting a good and gently used one isn't that big a deal.
How big are you thinking your water changes would be? I do not know what the pumping speed is for either unit but that's something to consider too.

FWIW...I have used a DOS for auto water changes for about 18 months. I had to replace one of the heads about six months ago. Other than that, it continues to perform as it should. I'm getting ready to change it out for a Spectrapure Litermeter III G6. I purchased a Trident which works hand in hand with the DOS. Don't want to purchase another DOS and have the Litermeter in the closet. Hence the changeout.
Thats a very good perspective to look at, I didn't look at it that way.
I'll check out the speeds, but I'll probably be doing like 2.5 gallons a day.
How far is your dt from your storage tanks? You can always donate the spectrapure to me for Christmas!
