Lots of green algae

Well I am having a lot of green algae. It seems like after I got my LED lights that it seemed to get worse. I have been running my blues on 40 and my whites on 15 for about eight hours per day. All water parameters are in check and phosphates are good as well. Salinity is .25. Does anyone know how to handle this algae and get rid of it. I may be over feeling a little bit but it seems like whenever I feed my pellets they eat them in about 15 seconds. I was trying to put a picture but it's too big and won't let me load it

The answer lies in what kind of green algae it is. There's different types and each requires a different treatment method. How do you know your phosphates are good?

you can beat it. but , keep in mind that once you start making adjustments it will take a few weeks to see any difference. reduce feeding if you're over feeding... double check NO3 and PO4.

Algae need nutrients to grow... light or no light.

Only way I know my phosphates are good is because I brought A water sample to Pure reef and they looked in spec

Then I'd have to guess that your photo period is to long or to intense. Do a couple of water changes with dramatically reduced light periods.

Your nitrate and phosphate levels probably look good because your algae is consuming them.

I have no idea where ball ground ga is but I do have a sea hare that has depleted all of the algae in my tank. This guy is a beast! I'd love to trade it to you for something.

About a month ago the algae in my tank was so bad I was considering getting out of the hobby now I have none.

All I did was add the sea hare and increased water changes.

I had a bad case of green hair algea about a year ago. I did a couple of things so I'm not sure which actually did the trick, but i think it was adding snails to my clean up crew. Those guys seemed to love the algea. I also shortened the light cycle which I learned was too intense and was also unknowingly causing issues with my coral. I was running the lights about 12 hours / day and cut them back to 10 hours. The other thing I did was physically pulling out as much as I could as it grew. Good luck to you.
