The bedroom side of my DT doesn't have alot of light. Any suggestions to coloring it up a bit? Sessile inverts, corals, anything? There is a good bit of shade and completely shadowed spots on the bedroom side. The little bit of light that is in the area is indirect.

A coco worm or feather duster would add some color. Sponges need no light at all and their are plenty of shapes and colors

You might try a Sun Coral or some heads of Dendrophylia. They are non-photosynthetic. Be a nice touch of orange with either of them.

Sun coral would also give you something to feed at night. You do have to feed them a few times a week to keep them healthy

Sun Coral!!!!!! They come out at night just when you'd be in the bedroom anyway.

Thanks guys.....I've got some sun coral. Love that pop of bright sunny color. I just put a cocoa worm over in there, earlier this week. I've had a blue shroom in there, but its small and hasn't generated any babies (been in there for several months)

Hmmmm sponges, I don't think I've seen any for sale at any of the LFS (unless I just wasn't paying attention). Is there anything special that I should know about sponges before I go searching for a few to add?

Saw sponges earlier today on ebay. Buy enough and it might make the shipping cost worth it.

Loved mine...

each "lip" is a mouth and has to be fed seperately...It was sold when I closed my tank a year ago....I WILL have another with my new build

I've got a sun coral and have never fed it specifically. I know it needs to eat, because its not photosynthetic. I have a powerhead pointing almost directly at it. When I feed frozen brine, mysis and cyclopese, bits and pieces get swept over to it.

Wow.....every mouth? I was barely patient enough to feed my son when he was in a highchair!

I did mention my lack of patience earlier, didn't I?

I had a 2 liter bottle cut in half..put over him anf baste mysis all over him...then target underneath....twice a week

hmmm interesting. Mine is sort of out of reach......my tank is so freakin' deep and the wall built up around it makes it even harder to get to the bottom. I would be worried about damaging the polyps while trying to get him in and out of my set up.

Warehouse Aquarium had several sponges I noticed in the swimming pool in the back of the store at the end of his sale last weekend. I was going to get one but was running out of money. They were laying on the bottom. A really cool and tall orange tree sponge among others. The main thing with sponges is never expose them to the air...ever. When he bags it up, he should put the bag underwater and put it in underwater. The tricky part with sponges is that they sometimes tend to get algae growing on them and that makes it harder for them to feed. I just take a powerhead and rub the sponge lightly with my fingers and use the powerhead to blow it away. Keeping it in the shade helps it alot though.

Suppose I was too busy checking out the Elk Horn or Deer Horn or whatever Horn that piece was to notice the sponges below.

I will be back up that way sometime next week, I've got a doctors appointment with my oncologist at Dekalb Medical.....can swing on by there an set some more dead presidents free. lol

sponges cannot touch air, they must remain submerged at all times. someone catch me if I'm wrong, but if they are out of water, they will die.

Not out of water just not wet. They do fine in moves and fragging as long as it is done quickly
