With changing out the DT and sump I’m posed with a question.

How do I move the sump stuff? The micro algae is a no brainer but what about the pods? The sand in the bottom is about 2 ½” deep by about 22”x12. I can clearly see pods on the sand and glass. When I moved the sump this weekend I moved the MA and drained the water to about 2” moved the sump and filled it back up, so all is good there.

But in the new sump I don’t have any of the algae in it. I can promote some quick green on the glass by running a 4500k CFL but what about the sand and pods. This sand was used when I got it and after setup has never been vacuumed. So it’s about 5 months old in my sump. If I move the MA and water will that be good enough or do I vacuum the first layer and keep the junk and put it in the sump with the new sand? I could run dual sumps until the new one is ready but that’s extra work and I’m probably over thinking it AGAIN as normal. Just trying to keep from having an algae bloom but I already know it’s going to happen :^(

On a side note do you ever put any snails in the sump?
