So I found my male lyretail anthias on the sand today doing barrel rolls. He looks very white in color. Should I try and get him out of the tank and into the sump for monitoring? Everything else in the tank is doing great btw.

Thanks for any advice.

Yeah I figured. He is in the sump now on his side. Don't really have high hopes at his point. What is weird is that there is no ich, torn fins, pinched stomach, or other signs of poor health/bullying.

Is there anything I can do for him. All I really see that is wrong is very heavy breathing.

We call that, "the jelly roll of death" :(

Sorry Colin, once that happens it usually doesn't turn out well.

Have any idea of what could cause it? He was fine Sunday night. And only glanced at the tank yesterday and seemed fine.

Could focus or metonidozal do anything?

He is kinda swimming around in the sump now with the light off, so who knows

You can try - there's no harm in that. If you've got the stuff on hand you might as well give it a shot.

So just mix it with some food? I've my PE mysis, Formula 1 RDF, and cyclopes (sp?).

Or just mix it in the water column?

If it is still eating, in the food is best. If it's not eating, and you're using a separate QT then in the water. If it's system water (still attached to the DT) I don't recommend treating the water.
