Macro Algae??

I had bought some macro/ mixed with cheato and some other stuff quite some time ago from Cap bay (no longer in business). So I got a very small amount and started growing it. I now have both my large tanks setup (last year) and they are doing fairly well with the exception that my 65 gallon reef has managed to get some of the macro (looks like it has little green grape on it) into the display. Well now its getting out of control. Any suggestions on a fish that would help me out. I was thinking Foxface. I do keep some Tangs in my 90 gallon but they are all way to big for the 65. Any help would be much appreciated.

Happy Reefing!

Sounds like Caulerpa. It's not good in your display. You will probably have to manually remove it before it gets out of control.

Sadly enough I feed my scopas tang caulerpa every week. It's like a treat for him, it never lasts in the display for more than 2 minutes.

He's good to have around :)

The tank he has is too small for one of those though isn't it?

Yeah, it would questionable. I have mine in a 70g but bought him super small. He still wouldn't be sold as a medium yet a few years later, but I want to upgrade him to a bigger setup, as it is getting questionable on my setup.

A foxface may be an acceptable solution to Mike's problem with grape calupera in the display.

Placing a small Tomini or Scaopas tang in to address the invasion should be fine as long as the intent is to remove him when the job is complete. Both tangs are relatively small fish. Some will argue that a bristletooth (tomini) will not eat macros but I have fed mine calurpa and he tears it up.

I would be cool adding a Tang. Even a small Hippo tang. Truth is its so hard to find a healthy fish. Guess I will start looking and in the mean time pull out what gets to close to the corals. Thanks for the info everyone.

That's what they all say! :D LOL, j/k with you. Good luck on getting rid of it.

Has anyone seen a Sailfin Tang eat it? I think I may know where I can get a very small and healty sailfin. Also nobody thinks a foxface would eat it??

Foxface would eat it. I say that but everyfish has a mind of its own. I have also heard of them getting a taste for zoas.

Purchased a Foxface yesterday. Dripped him and put him in the tank. He is was a little thin but not bad. It only took about 10 min and he was going to town. I think he feels much at home. So I leave the algae do its thing. Let the fish be happy and the tank has a very natural look to it. The next addition will be a Desjardin's Sailfin Tang. I can get a very small one for a not so bad price.

Thanks for the help everyone.
