Macro algae?

This has been growing in my sump. Not sure how it got there, but could use some help identifying. Thanks

Looks like bubble algae... get rid of it... all of it.

Botryocladia??? I don't think this is a pest algae, but I've been wrong before.

It almost looks like a type of Codium, but all the Codium I've ever seen is green.

I don't think it's a nuisance algae if it grows in a ball like that, it would be easy enough to remove if you chose to.

If you don't want it, give it to me

It grows in clumps...usually on the sides of the sump and has been super easy to export. Has never shown up in the main tank. I just haven't been 100% what it is.

I forget what it is called but it is not a bubble algae. It is a type of Macro which IMO is a good thing. It does spread...some think it's pretty, some think it's a PITA. I personally like it and my wife loves it...reminds her of a red maple tree. Macro is always good at keeping some of the other algaes at bay so if you get rid of it, you never know what might replace it..if anything??

A 'weed' is only a nuisance because we either have no use for it, or control for it, or both.

FWIW- the Japanese pay a premium for Tofu made from... get this, Kudzu!
Here it is a plague.

As for myself, I have some botrycladia and hope that it grows.

(you can effectively control any algae by controlling nutrients in your system)
