How can I get them down. I have been doing water changes regularly and still high very high!

been doing water changes twice a week for a month but they are in the high 1600's.

Edit: What causes them to rise?

Wouldn't worry too much. If you are not adding any addition, then most likely your test kit is off. 1300 to 1400 is max on mag I believe with any salt at 35.

IO salt but just last week went with Salinity MAGs were in the 1900's.

What do you mean "doing" if dosing is what you mean. I use from aqua vitro Fuel, Vibrance, eight four and then I use purple up.

Here is aqua vitro's website

Edit: I use RODI as well

Salinity is 1300....

Purple up is a waste of money. It does have a little mag in it...I don't know if any other products contain mag!? Don't use any that does at this rate.
What test kit?

I think Vibrance uses MAG so I will cut it out. I have only used it once a week anyways.

Well I am new and was told to use it once a week. I have no idea on how to dose individually.

Are you using the Red Sea Pro test kit? If so, that could be the issue. I amusing that test kit and recently found out that it was reading higher that the true MAG level in my DT. I would re-test with another kit or take a water sample to a LFS and have them test it.

Vibrance is Iodide. Ions is Magnesium.

I'd question the accuracy of the kit, but even if it is 1600 it shouldn't bother anything. I've seen people spike it a lot higher to try to kill bryopsis.
