I am a little lost when I need to compair these 2 pump.
My 30gl sump have the mag7 running now as a return pump, but I will need to replace it soon and thinking of using the 1260 eheim pump.
1260 Hobby Pump
634 gph with a max head of 12.1 feet at 65 watts. Input 25/34 mm, output 16/22 mm.

Price is not a factor on this pump because I rather not have rust screws in the sump.

What are your thought on this?

Mag drives are good pumps(the screws have never rusted on me and ive had at least 15 over the years for various things) The only one Ive had go out on me was the one I throw around for moving water in jugs and such. They tend to be a bit loud(vibration) and wear is always due to the rubber bushings for the impeller going bad. And they tend to put a good pit of heat into the system.

Ehiems...well they are just better. Very reliable, but usually much more expensive and lower flow/head. But they also run cooler and are more efficient. I have a single 1260 thats been around for about 15 years and its still working just fine.

Personally the cost is just to high for me to use ehiems, and magdrives have been good to me.

Not a good comparison IMO based on price point. While they are similar in output the dollar per gph is higher on the Eheim. Why not look at Quiet One 3000? Even a little more output for even less $/gph. I was a HUGE mag fan and have recently switched over all of my pumps to QO's. I'm running a 3000 and 4000 in my system and I've notice two things.....less draw (watts), higher output and quieter than the Mag7 was.

QO pumps are nice, but they wear alot faster then the mag drives, and when they do wear its much more severe then just bushings. Ive gone through plenty of them to know. Also anything smaller then a 3000 is total crap.
