Magnesium too high!

My zoas are fleshy and colorful but they aren't extending, and it seems some of them are actually shrinking. But my sps corals in the same tank are doing fine. I bought continuum reef sculpture A&B and red sea reef energy A&B and have been dosing once a week.

Latest test

Magnesium - 1375 ppm, a little high
Calcium - 450 ppm
Nitrates and Ammonia - 0 ppm
PH - 8.0
Salinity - 1.024

What am I doing wrong?

Yeah that's actually a good area to be at....and certain reefers will say that's low. I prefer to be up in the 1450 area personally.

What about calcium? i tested it on an API test kit and it said it was at 450. Thats as high as it should be right? Im using Contiuum Reef sculpture A & B and Reed Coral Colors A-D. Is this to much? I do it about once a week, and I use Red Sea Coral Pro Salt. I dont want the calcium to get any higher.

your on the upper end, but still normal imo.... 350-450 is fine. Some reefers are a bit more finicky and say highest 380 or something. Nothing detrimental.

not familiar with those products. I personally try to stay as natural as I can. It's when you play "reef chemist" things can go out of whack unless your on top of the parameters and their effects.

You may want to spend your money on better test kits instead of dosing supplies. API can be way off which could cause you to over dose the tank.

I've been hovering around 2000 for 6 months and am on my way to 2400. Your MG is just fine...
